HYBE Music Group label ADOR will hold a boy group audition across seven Korean cities. "ADOR BOYS AUDITION in KOREA" will begin in Seoul on August 1 and continue to Gwangju, Jeju, Daejeon, Wonju, Daegu and Busan, with males born in 2007 or later eligible to apply.

ADOR is beginning a domestic search for boy group talent. According to multiple reports released on July 24, Korea time, ADOR announced "ADOR BOYS AUDITION in KOREA" through its official social media channels. The audition is drawing attention because it is described as ADOR's first standalone domestic boy group audition.

The schedule will run throughout August. According to the released schedule, the audition begins in Seoul on August 1, Korea time. It will then continue to Gwangju on August 2, Jeju on August 12, Daejeon on August 14, Wonju on August 16, Daegu on August 29 and Busan on August 30. The biggest feature of this audition is that it is not concentrated only in the Seoul metropolitan area, but tours several regions.

The eligibility requirements are also relatively broad. Males born in 2007 or later can apply for this audition. There is no restriction on application field. Press materials and related reports emphasized that applicants can freely show their strengths and talents, not only in fields often mentioned in idol auditions such as singing, dance and rap. In other words, the audition is closer to a process of checking individual potential than requiring applicants to fit a specific genre or format.

The in-person judging method also stands out. ADOR said all applicants who complete online pre-registration will be given an opportunity to meet judges directly for an in-person audition. In many public auditions, only some applicants receive an on-site review after preliminary video or document screening. This approach can be interpreted as lowering the application threshold and seeking to confirm potential directly on site.

This announcement can also be viewed as an extension of the global audition held earlier this year. In March, Korea time, ADOR held "2026 ADOR BOYS GLOBAL AUDITION" and searched for boy group members across 11 cities including Seoul, Busan, Singapore, Osaka, Tokyo, Vancouver, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Sydney and Melbourne. At that time as well, the target was males born in 2007 or later, with applications accepted without field restrictions.

The new domestic audition narrows that scope to regions within Korea. If the global audition broadly covered major overseas cities, this audition tours seven Korean cities to offer direct opportunities to regional applicants. ADOR's stated intention to discover hidden talent nationwide connects with that point. Considering that Seoul-centered structures remain strong in the K-pop trainee discovery process, a regional tour has meaning in improving accessibility for applicants. The timing of the audition is also worth noting. August is a period when student applicants can more easily use school vacation time. ADOR also mentioned interest from students during the vacation period. However, this does not mean the audition is only for students.

ADOR is widely known as the HYBE label behind NewJeans. A label searching for new boy group talent connects with long-term artist portfolio planning. For a label that has built public recognition through a girl group, preparing a male artist lineup is one natural expansion strategy within the K-pop industry.

A K-pop agency audition is different from a simple recruitment notice. Trainee selection influences the debut team's musical direction, concept, stage ability and fandom formation method. Boy groups in particular are often evaluated before debut not only on performance and teamwork, but also on content adaptability and the ability to respond to overseas fandoms. Therefore, what an audition asks for can become a clue to the kind of talent the label prefers.

ADOR appears to be emphasizing potential more than technique. In reports about the March global audition, ADOR also explained that it was looking for people with original charm and potential rather than simply following technical skill or trends. This domestic audition similarly leaves fields unrestricted and opens the door for applicants to freely show their strengths and special talents. This can be read as a direction that looks broadly at growth potential rather than only at already completed skill.

The format of public K-pop auditions has also been changing in recent years. In the past, the focus was often on showing skill in fixed fields such as singing, dance and rap within a short time. Now, evaluation factors have widened to include content creation ability, self-expression, naturalness in front of the camera, and adaptability across languages and cultures. ADOR's explanation that there are no field restrictions connects with that change.

The seven-city domestic tour format also has meaning in terms of fandom and regionality. The K-pop industry is centered on Seoul, but actual applicants and consumers are distributed nationwide. Regional auditions lower the burden of traveling to the capital area, while creating points of contact where a label can meet applicants from different regions directly. Including regional hub cities such as Daegu, Busan, Gwangju, Jeju, Wonju and Daejeon can be seen as a choice to look widely across the domestic applicant pool.

It is also important that this audition was reported as ADOR's first standalone domestic boy group audition. Holding a separate domestic audition after already conducting a global audition means the label is continuing talent discovery by separating overseas and Korean applicant flows. This can be viewed as an operation that considers differences in application environments by region.

Applicants should check official channels. Reports said detailed information can be found on the audition's official website. City-specific venues, pre-registration deadlines, arrival times, required materials, judging methods and result notification methods may vary according to the notice. Even if all online pre-registered applicants are given an in-person audition opportunity, actual participation requires following registration procedures and regional instructions.

ADOR's audition is still at the beginning stage. A concrete boy group debut plan has not been publicly revealed, and this schedule should not be interpreted as directly confirming a debut team. However, meeting applicants across seven Korean cities shows that the label is preparing a new male artist lineup over the long term. The results of the audition are expected to be confirmed gradually through the selection process and later announcements.
