Girl group izna is set to officially enter the Japanese music market with its first Japanese mini album. Having already built visibility in Japan through festival appearances, commercial music, fan concerts, local broadcasts and magazine features, the group’s upcoming debut appears less like a one-off release and more like the next step in expanding its regional foundation.

Girl group izna will release its first Japanese mini album, ‘HANDLE WITH CARE,’ on September 2, marking the group’s official debut in Japan. The album will be izna’s first mini album released for the Japanese market and will arrive through a partnership with a Sony Music label, signaling the start of more active local promotions.

izna consists of Mai, Bang Jeemin, Koko, Ryu Sarang, Choi Jungeun and Jeong Saebi. Across multiple reports, the key points remain consistent: the group’s official Japan debut date, the album title, and the plan to begin full-fledged activities in Japan through collaboration with Sony Music. However, details such as the track list, concept and specific promotional schedule have yet to be revealed in full, making it difficult at this stage to draw firm conclusions beyond the confirmed release information.

The upcoming debut is drawing attention because izna has already spent time building points of contact with the Japanese market before its official debut there. The group appeared at Japan’s major music festival ‘SUMMER SONIC 2025’ last year and also performed ‘Love All,’ a TV commercial song for a Japanese beverage brand, helping introduce its name to a broader local audience. In addition, izna released a Japanese-language recording through ‘BEEP (Japan Edition),’ which was reported to have received a response on major local music platforms.

Performance and broadcast activities have also served as groundwork for the group’s Japanese debut. In January this year, izna held its first fan concert in Japan, ‘izna 1st FAN-CON [Not Just Pretty] In Japan,’ which sold out all seats. The group also widened its contact with local fans through the ABEMA original variety program ‘izna’s First Japanese Variety! What is N/a?’ Beyond music-related promotions, izna has increased its exposure in Japan through magazine shoots with titles such as ViVi and ELLEgirl, as well as an appearance on NHK Radio.

For K-pop groups, an official debut in Japan is rarely limited to the simple act of releasing an album. It requires coordination across music distribution, local television and live performances, fandom management and Japanese-language content production. In that sense, izna’s latest move can be seen as a process of extending the group image formed through its Korean activities into a market-specific framework for Japan. Given that Japan remains an important market for K-pop in both album sales and live performance demand, the response to this debut album could influence future fan meetings, tours and local promotion strategies.

izna has recently continued to broaden its activities in Korea with the release of its third mini album, ‘SET THE TEMPO.’ The first Japanese mini album now follows as part of the group’s global expansion after its domestic promotions, positioning ‘HANDLE WITH CARE’ as a notable turning point in izna’s growth trajectory. Further details about the album are expected to be announced at a later date by the agency.
