J.Y. Park will release his new single "WET" on July 23. The song is being introduced as his first summer song in about six years since "When We Disco (Duet with Sunmi)" in 2020, and also as the main theme song for Korean summer music festival Waterbomb 2026. With a challenge audio clip and festival-related content released ahead of the single, the rollout is being shaped around both streaming and live stages.

J.Y. Park is returning with a new song aimed at the summer season. According to multiple reports, he will release the new single "WET" on July 23. It is his first new release since "Happy Hour" with Kwon Jin Ah last November, and his first song placing summer at the center in about six years since "When We Disco" in 2020.

The biggest feature of "WET" is that it has been connected to a festival even before release. The song has been selected as the main theme song for Waterbomb 2026. Considering the festival's identity, built around water cannons and water-based stage production, the song has also been introduced as a reggae-toned track suited to a summer live setting. J.Y. Park is scheduled to appear at Waterbomb Seoul and Busan again this year, and the new song is expected to expand its exposure through those stages.

However, the information currently confirmed is limited to the release date, selection as a festival theme song, the broad genre direction and some pre-release content. Music results and actual stage response will need to be confirmed after the song is released and performed. In that sense, this report is better focused on why J.Y. Park has chosen summer music again and what kind of stage environment he is connecting the song to, rather than predicting its results.

Pre-release content has already begun. On July 9, J.Y. Park revealed the challenge audio for "WET" through his official social media channels. Artists included in the Waterbomb lineup, such as WJSN's Dayoung, Billlie, 82MAJOR, KISS OF LIFE, MADEIN and KickFlip, reportedly participated in challenge videos. Challenge videos featuring RESCENE's Minami for "WET" and "Pretty Girl" were also released.

In an official Waterbomb YouTube video, J.Y. Park mentioned this year's stage outfit and the direction of the song. Since his outfit and performance at last year's Waterbomb stage left a strong impression, this year's activity may use "WET" as a way to connect festival presence and online challenges at the same time. Still, the specific stage structure and performance direction will need to be confirmed after they are revealed on site.
