RIIZE Extends Chart Momentum at Home and Abroad with Second Mini Album ‘II’

RIIZE’s second mini album II ranked No. 1 on Circle’s June monthly album chart and Japan’s Oricon daily album ranking, extending the group’s chart performance in Korea and overseas.

RIIZE Extends Chart Momentum at Home and Abroad with Second Mini Album ‘II’
RIIZE has posted consecutive chart results with its second mini album ‘II,’ earning recognition on both Korea’s album charts and Japan’s Oricon ranking. The sales indicators, digital performance, and music-show results following the album’s release point to the group’s solid domestic base as well as its expanding presence overseas.

Boy group RIIZE is continuing to build chart momentum at home and abroad with its second mini album ‘II.’ According to multiple media reports on July 9, RIIZE’s second mini album ‘II’ ranked No. 1 on the album section of Circle Chart’s June monthly chart announced that day. The same album also topped Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking dated July 7.

Rather than viewing the result as a temporary reaction on a single chart, it is worth considering it within the broader momentum that has accumulated since the album’s release. ‘II’ previously ranked No. 1 on Circle Chart’s weekly album chart and download chart, and also topped Hanteo Chart’s weekly ranking. The fact that both physical album sales and download-based indicators have been cited suggests that this release has generated responses across fan-driven physical consumption and digital platforms alike.

RIIZE has also reportedly achieved its fourth million-seller title with this album. A million-seller refers to an album that surpasses one million copies in sales, and in the K-pop market it is often used as a key indicator of fandom scale and purchasing power. However, because each chart applies different counting methods and criteria, it is more appropriate to examine what each indicator represents rather than simply comparing rankings side by side.

The group’s overseas performance is also drawing attention. According to reports, in addition to reaching No. 1 on Japan’s Oricon Daily Album Ranking, ‘II’ also posted results on Japanese platforms such as AWA’s real-time rising chart and RecoChoku’s weekly album ranking. In China, the album’s performance has been mentioned in connection with QQ Music’s digital album sales chart and Tencent Music’s integrated K-pop chart. These results indicate that RIIZE is broadening its points of contact across Asian music markets, including Japan and China, while maintaining its activities in Korea.

The title track ‘Do your dance’ has also been central to the album’s momentum. Reports have cited achievements including No. 1 on Melon’s Global K-pop daily chart, No. 1 on HOT100, and three music-show wins. Digital-chart and music-show results can be understood as outcomes shaped by both public exposure and fandom participation. At the same time, the significance of each achievement should be interpreted with an understanding that music programs and platforms use different evaluation standards.

Another point worth noting in this round of coverage is RIIZE’s use of B-side tracks. The group has been expanding its promotional scope beyond the title track, and reports stated that RIIZE was scheduled to release a choreography practice video for ‘D-D-Done’ on its official YouTube channel at 9 p.m. on July 9. This aligns with the recent K-pop trend in which groups extend an album’s consumption cycle through B-side performances, short-form content, and self-produced videos rather than relying solely on title-track promotions.

RIIZE’s latest results also carry meaning within SM Entertainment’s broader boy group strategy. Since debuting, RIIZE has built a physical-sales base at a relatively fast pace and is now seeing signs of response in the Japanese market as well, supported by its domestic fandom. Japan remains a major market for K-pop groups, where album sales, concerts, and fan meetings are closely connected. While an Oricon ranking result does not automatically guarantee long-term success, it can serve as a meaningful indicator for expanding local activities.

What has been confirmed so far is that ‘II’ ranked No. 1 on Korea’s monthly album chart and Japan’s daily album ranking, while also recording additional results across multiple platforms after its release. The key question from here is how this momentum will connect to follow-up content, performances, and overseas activities. In particular, with the release of B-side content coinciding with chart responses in Japan, RIIZE’s latest album activity can be seen not only as a short-term promotion, but also as a process of widening the foundation for the group’s next steps.
