JYP Entertainment said TWICE is in a contract renewal discussion period after reports about Tzuyu, Jihyo and Chaeyoung raised questions over member contracts and future group activities.

TWICE Enters Contract Renewal Talks as JYP Responds to Reports on Tzuyu, Jihyo and Chaeyoung
As reports continue over the future status of TWICE members, attention is turning to the group's second round of contract renewal discussions. The key points commonly confirmed across reports are that possible agency moves or independent activities have been raised for some members, including Tzuyu, Jihyo and Chaeyoung, and that JYP Entertainment stated TWICE is currently in a contract renewal discussion period and will provide guidance once matters are finalized.

TWICE is once again at the center of contract renewal discussions. On July 14, multiple outlets reported on the future agency status and individual activity directions of Tzuyu, Jihyo and Chaeyoung. However, what has been officially confirmed so far is that JYP Entertainment has said the group is in a contract renewal discussion period. Final contract decisions for each member and future activity structures have not yet been settled through an official announcement.

Reports about Tzuyu emerged first. Some outlets said Tzuyu had agreed in the direction of not renewing with JYP, while continuing TWICE group activities. Ilgan Sports also cited Taiwanese media reports that introduced local speculation that Tzuyu could be connected to a company established by her family. However, because this information has moved through overseas media analysis and domestic reporting, the actual contract party and activity structure should be confirmed through an official position.

Reports about Jihyo and Chaeyoung followed as well. JoyNews24 reported that Jihyo was considering leaving JYP and establishing a one-person agency, while other outlets said Chaeyoung had held meetings with other agencies for individual activities. During this process, a structure separating individual exclusive contracts from TWICE group activities was mentioned. Still, at the current stage, these remain in the realm of reports and outlooks, and it is difficult to state any contract structure as finalized.

JYP is maintaining a cautious position on the matter. The summary of the agency's position delivered to several outlets is that TWICE is in a contract renewal discussion period, and that the company will provide an update once the matter is finalized. This can be read as an expression that withholds detailed confirmation on each member's future while cautioning against expanded interpretation before an official announcement.

The reason TWICE's contract renewal discussions are drawing attention is closely tied to the group's history. Since debuting in 2015, TWICE has expanded its domestic and international fandom with major songs including "CHEER UP," "TT," "LIKEY" and "FANCY," and in 2022 all members renewed their contracts with JYP. Since then, the group has continued group activities while also widening individual activities, making the current discussions a point for watching how the activity structure of a long-running girl group may continue.

Recently, TWICE has continued group activity by completing the world tour "THIS IS FOR." While the foundation for group activity remains in place, the direction of each member's individual contract is a separate matter. What is needed now is official announcements and verifiable information rather than reports that conclude members' future status ahead of confirmation. Each member's choice and the structure of future team activities can be assessed more concretely after announcements from JYP and the members involved.
