UNIS Pre-Releases 'GimmeSummer☆' Ahead of First Japanese EP
UNIS pre-released GimmeSummer from their first Japanese mini album UNI☆Sparkle! ahead of its July 31 release, signaling a summer-focused step in their Japan activities.
UNIS has pre-released the title track from its first Japanese mini album ahead of the album's official release. "GimmeSummer☆," released at midnight on July 17, is the title track of the group's first Japanese mini album "UNI☆Sparkle!," which will be released on July 31. The song expands the flow of original Japanese songs UNIS has shown in its Japan activities into a summer-season concept.
UNIS has begun its Japan comeback schedule in earnest. According to multiple reports, the group pre-released "GimmeSummer☆," the title track of its first Japanese mini album "UNI☆Sparkle!," through major domestic and international online music platforms at midnight on July 17. The full album is scheduled to be released on July 31.
The pre-release can be seen as the starting point of promotions for UNIS' first Japanese mini album. The group has released original Japanese songs including "Shaking My Head," a collaboration single with Japanese singer-songwriter noa, as well as "moshimoshi♡" and "mwah…." The new mini album is a schedule that gathers that flow of Japanese original songs into an album format.
"GimmeSummer☆" has been introduced as UNIS' first summer song. The description commonly confirmed across reports is that the song highlights refreshing and lively energy. If the group's previous Japanese original songs emphasized cute and lovely images, this track is known as a song that places summer emotion and a youthful mood at the center.
The album's track list has also been revealed. "UNI☆Sparkle!" will include five tracks in total: title track "GimmeSummer☆," new song "BBYBBY," Japanese digital singles "moshimoshi♡" and "mwah…," and the Japanese version of Korean activity track "SWICY."
Production details were also reported. Kanata Okajima and Carlos K. participated in the lyrics and composition of "GimmeSummer☆." The song shows continuity in UNIS' activities by extending the group's run of original tracks tailored to the Japanese music market.
The music video release schedule has also been set. UNIS is scheduled to release the full music video for "GimmeSummer☆" through its official YouTube channel and other platforms at 7 p.m. on July 17. The previously released teaser was reported to preview the friendship and relationships of girls leaving on a school trip. Releasing the music and video content sequentially on the same day is a way to build interest step by step before the album release.
UNIS' first Japanese mini album sits at a point where the group's local activities are moving from single releases to an album format. However, the information currently confirmed is limited to the pre-released song, music video schedule, July 31 album release and track list. For that reason, this pre-release is closer to a stage for first confirming the schedule and concept than for judging results. Detailed Japan activity plans and local chart performance will need to be checked through later official announcements and post-release indicators.
